10 Best 60 Inch Television –Reviews In 2021

Why would anyone require a 60-inch television? In my perspective, the answer is WHY NOT! We’re all looking for new methods to enjoy oneself in this new ‘normal’ of social alienation, where going to the movies isn’t as easy as it was before COVID-19. It’s a terrific method to compensate if you get the impression of being in a movie theater with a big screen, but you’re at home. A 60-inch screen is ideal for watching sports, binge-viewing, or getting lost in a movie. There’s nothing like having the cinema experience at home without the theater’s drawbacks, such as overpriced refreshments, a lack of a pause button, or sticky floors.

Sure, there are some drawbacks to having such a large screen, the most obvious of which is the lack of space. Fortunately, most, if not all, televisions are now wall-mountable. When you consider that large-format TVs are becoming more affordable, they become even more appealing. But how can you decide which one is best for you? With this list of the top TVs with at least 60-inch screens available today, we’re here to help. Examine our suggestions and balance the benefits and drawbacks against your personal preferences. When you’ve finished reading this guide, you’ll be able to choose the greatest 60-inch TV for your needs.

The Sony 65X800H is a mid-range 60-inch television that proves that “middle of the road” can be just as good as “high-end.” Despite its poor black level performance, it provides a bright, crisp picture and a number of features that approach those found in much more expensive models. Some terms automatically suggest ‘expensive,’ regardless of the goods. This is absolutely the case with Samsung’s QLED display technology televisions. Gaming is another significant function that a 60-inch TV may provide. Binging the latest trending shows or streaming direct to rent first-run movies (thanks to COVID-19) aren’t the only purposes for a 60-inch TV. There’s nothing quite like a large screen trip into the universe or the untamed west. The TCL 6-Series 65R635 is not only a good 60-inch television, but it also excels at console gaming.

The 65R635 has a 65-inch Quantum Dot (QLED) 4K (3840 x 2160 resolution) display packed in a small chassis that isn’t likely to win any design prizes anytime soon. It’s VESA wall-mountable and comes with a stand that’s made up of two feet with wire management clips. Four HDMI ports, a coaxial cable/antenna port, one USB port, a digital optical port, an ethernet jack, and wi-fi are included in the connectivity. Voice control is also available via Alexa or Google Assistant. The 65R635’s natural refresh rate of 120Hz makes it ideal for low-latency gaming. The built-in THX Certified Game Mode with features and settings to enhance gameplay improves the gaming experience. The visual quality is outstanding, with brilliant and realistic colors, thanks to quantum dot and mini-LED display technologies. The built-in speakers on the 65R635 are one of the few flaws, as they scream for external audio.

The TCL 65R635 is a 60-inch TV that is a wonderful choice whether you are a heavy watcher, a heavy gamer, or a combination of both. Despite its mid-range pricing, the 65R635 delivers performance and features comparable to those found on much more expensive televisions. SAMSUNG 60-Inch Class HDR Smart TV

When it comes to current TVs, there have been several so-called gimmicks, such as 3D support and curved screens. While 3D televisions are no longer manufactured, the curved screen retains its immersive, almost IMAX-like viewing experience. The Samsung TU8300 is a fantastic 60-inch curved TV that expertly demonstrates that curved TVs are still a viable option.

A 65-inch curved 4K (3840 x 2160 resolution) screen is housed in a thin-bezel frame of the TU8300. It is VESA wall-mountable, despite its curve, which will sadly reveal its thickness. Three HDMI connectors, two USB ports, a digital audio output jack, a LAN port, wi-fi, and Bluetooth provide connectivity. The TU8300’s picture quality is exceptional, with well-defined colors, excellent black uniformity, and excellent HDR performance. Smarts are delivered via the Tizen OS, which is simple to use and has a large software library. For voice control, Alexa and Google Assistant are supported. Ambient Mode+ is a wonderful feature that allows the TV to mirror the wall behind it or show images, art, and other media. With its low input lag and Game Mode, the TU8300 is ideal for consoles.

Whether it’s a gimmick or not, the Samsung TU8300 is a fantastic performer. When you’re entirely immersed in its amazing picture quality, the small drawbacks will appear insignificant. The curved TV may not be around for much longer as a trend, but the TU8300 demonstrates how it should be done properly. On the list of best 60-inch TVs, the TU8300 stands out as a one-of-a-kind and high-quality performer.

Sceptre U550CV-U 55" 60Hz LED HDTV

We scarcely knew you, 4K! 8K is no longer a distant dream; it has here. Even if there isn’t a lot of 8K material available, 8K TVs are starting to appear, but which is the best? The Samsung Q900TS is a fantastic TV with features and visual quality that could make it the industry standard for 8K TVs.

The Q900TS has a 65-inch 8K (7860 x 4320 resolution) screen with a “infinity screen” design that is practically bezel-less. Because of the Object Tracking Sound+ 4.2.2 speaker array with speakers on the bottom, top, and side borders, the frame isn’t quite as slim as other comparable TVs. Four HDMI ports, two USB ports, a LAN port, digital audio output, wi-fi, and Bluetooth are included in the connectivity. The Tizen smart interface, which has a large library of apps and services, provides smart capabilities for the Q900TS. The Q900TS’ picture quality is amazing, with breathtaking color accuracy and superb black levels thanks to the Quantum 8K processor. The 8K AI upscaling will make you forget about the paucity of 8K content. Adaptive Picture mode, which changes the picture brightness to fit the light level in the room, is another useful function.

The Samsung Q900TS is a fantastic illustration of what the future generation of 8K TVs will and should look like. One of the few disadvantages is the need to wait for 8K content to catch up. However, until then, the 8K AI upscaling will suffice. On this list of best 60-inch TVs, the Q900TS is a solid contender.

As today’s TVs become thinner and thinner, an unintended consequence is that the sound from their speakers becomes thinner as well. The built-in speakers shouldn’t be an afterthought if tech wizards can continue to make the panels incredibly tiny. The Sony XBR-65A8H is a 60-inch television with superb visual quality as well as speakers to match.

The 65A8H is a 65-inch OLED TV with a quality-built frame and a super-thin bezel to match the small display. The feet on the 65A8H can be adjusted vertically. Four HDMI ports, three USB ports, a LAN socket, digital audio output, composite video input, Bluetooth, and wi-fi are among the available connections. Smart functionality is provided via the Android TV OS, which is also compatible with smart assistants. Acoustic Surface technology, which is built into the 65A8H, employs left and right audio actuators mounted to the back of the panel to vibrate the screen to produce sound. From the back of the set, a subwoofer emits sound. The sound quality is outstanding (albeit the bass could be better) and complements the 65A8H picture quality, which offers excellent black levels, contrast, and color reproduction. Exclusive Sony features like X-Motion Clarity for clear motion and X-Reality PRO for spot-on 4K upscaling improve picture quality.

When it comes to today’s television offers, you shouldn’t have to make any compromises. The Sony XBR-65A8H is a no-compromises television with great sound and visual quality. On this list of the top 60-inch TVs, the 65A8H is a solid contender.

Samsung 65-Inch BE65T-H Pro TV

Toshiba 50LF621U21 50-inch Smart TV

The Vizio V585-H11 is the best 58-60 inch affordable TV. It comes in two sizes: 58 and 60 inches, although the 58-inch model is more readily available, and we expect it to operate similarly to the 65-inch model we tested. This is a decent budget model that performs well in gloomy environments. The Vizio SmartCast system lets you cast anything from your phone or tablet, but it’s sluggish and you can’t download any additional apps.

If you wish to use it for gaming, it has an extremely low input lag, but the response time is poor, and fast-moving video may cause motion blur. If you wish to use it as a PC monitor, it has chroma 4:4:4, which is necessary for reading text. It features a VA panel with a high contrast ratio and black uniformity. Although it lacks a local dimming function to boost dark scene performance, it does a good job of displaying 1080p and 4k material and reduces judder from 24p sources, making it a good choice for watching movies in dimly lit settings.

It does not, however, function well in brightly-lit conditions. It doesn’t become bright enough to prevent glare, while having decent reflection handling. It also doesn’t have a wide color gamut and doesn’t make HDR highlights pop. Regardless of these flaws, if you’re searching for a basic 58 or 60-inch TV and don’t want to spend a lot of money, this one should suffice.

Toshiba 50LF621U21 50-inch Smart TV

Hisense 50A6G 50-Inch Android Smart TV

The Samsung UN58TU7000FXZA is the greatest 58-inch TV for gaming. It isn’t part of the QLED lineup, so it doesn’t have as many features and isn’t as good for HDR content as the Samsung Q60/Q60A QLED, but it is a simple entry-level model with decent gaming performance. We evaluated the 55-inch model, but our findings should be applicable to the 58-inch model as well.

Because it has a VA panel with a high native contrast ratio, it operates best in dim environments. Although it lacks a local dimming feature, it nevertheless produces deep blacks, and our unit has excellent black uniformity. In terms of gaming, it offers a low input lag and a decent response speed, although you may notice some image duplication because the backlight flickers when the Brightness setting is anything other than its maximum. It easily upscales lower-resolution material, such as 1080p, and it fully supports 4K HDR content from both the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Unfortunately, it’s limited to a 60Hz display and lacks VRR functionality, which we’d expect from a budget TV. HDR material also doesn’t look all that different from SDR because it lacks a wide color gamut and can’t become bright enough to make highlights pop. It also has narrow viewing angles, which is common of VA panels, thus when viewed from the side, the image seems distorted. Overall, it’s the greatest 58-inch gaming television.

Hisense 50A6G 50-Inch Android Smart TV

All-New Insignia 55 inch Smart Fire TV

The Samsung QN60Q60AAFXZA is the greatest 60-inch smart TV. We tested the 55-inch model, but the 60-inch should perform similarly. It’s a good entry-level QLED replacement for the Samsung Q60/60T QLED, which will be phased out in 2020. Although it lacks some extra capabilities, most individuals who watch movies or stream their favorite entertainment on TV should be satisfied with it.

It boasts a VA panel with a high native contrast ratio, which allows it to display deep blacks with incredible uniformity. This is fantastic for watching movies in dimly light settings, but there is no local dimming to improve the picture quality. If you wish to use it in a brightly light space, it has good reflection handling and can get bright enough to avoid glare in most situations. It offers excellent out-of-the-box accuracy, so you may not need to calibrate it, and it easily upscales lower-resolution content such as cable boxes and DVDs.

Gamers will be unhappy to learn that it only supports a 60Hz refresh rate, lacks variable refresh rate (VRR) technology, and has a poor response time that causes motion blur. It does, however, have low input lag and supports 4k @ 60Hz HDR gameplay on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X. It does, however, have a large color gamut, although its HDR brightness is only average. Regardless, this is the greatest 60-inch 4K TV on the market.

What is a 60 inch TV?

With the further development of technical achievements in consumer electronics, people’s perception has changed more and more.

Where certain special effects in films used to attract attention, today’s modern man can only yawn wearily. Films like “Jurassic Park” or classics like “2001 – Odyssey in Space” by Stanley Kubrick clearly show where the levels are superimposed and the then sluggish computer technology used to compose the images.

The dangerous Tyrannosaurus Rex, which in the nineties looked so lively and genuine and was frightening, can now be seen as a distinct effect in the second image.

While the odyssey had an almost better image transfer than the moon landing images, today, it is a nostalgic product of its time. It serves philosophical entertainment more than admiration for image technology.

The television now has a different status and part of everyday life to do so. The television program is also tuned to better devices. Not only films but also series and shows are becoming more and more spectacular, complex and eventful. While the family used to gather in front of the small box to spend an evening together with film and fun without thinking about the quality of the picture and sound, it has to be a real experience and adventure for most people now if that Device is switched on. Television is home theater and shows itself in a combination of a large screen, high-quality sound system, and Dolby Surround. The film is radiated alive into the room and can even be viewed in 3D.

The purchase of a large television has become affordable for everyone due to the high demand. The television has also changed significantly in its dimensions, is flat and visually impressive. Accordingly, only questions about the format and the equipment features play a role in the purchase. The customs size is an important aspect of the purchase. The TV must also fit into the room, easily solved by the flat design and given at 60 inches.

A 60-inch television is available in a price range of around 1,000 euros, depending on the type of functions, resolution, and features. Sixty inches mean a diagonal of 1.52 meters. There is a lot of space available without the TV taking up too much space. The device can be easily accommodated and often has important diverse features that significantly increase the viewing pleasure, which makes the models very popular and trendy.

Weighing around 25 kilograms, the televisions are somewhat heavier. Still, they offer a wide viewing angle, clear menu navigation, and the most important connections, as well as 3D compatibility or the function of using digital streaming services.

As the screen size increases, a higher resolution is necessary so that the images can be displayed and without noise. While Full HD was the measure of things a few years ago, Ultra HD and 4K are popular today. This allows suitable screen grids with a larger format.

It must be borne in mind that the larger a television set, the more the grid becomes visible. Ultra HD has four times as many pixels as Full HD and a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. This allows for a uniform image even at 60 inches without an annoying image grid.

For a 60 inch television, the refresh rate is also crucial. The technical data provided by the manufacturer of such a model often relate to contrast, colors, brightness, and image sharpness. There are 60 inch TVs with 100 Hertz or 50 Hertz, with the higher frame rate being slightly better.

60-inch televisions have many additional functions and are also suitable for streaming and digital reception or connection to recorders, receivers, game consoles, and PCs. It makes sense to integrate such a model in a home theater, e.g., with soundbars or sound systems. In addition to the better image quality, it also delivers an associated distinctive sound.

To put it straight away: 60-inch televisions are a rarity. If you have a TV wall that has to fit exactly one 153 centimeter television, it is best to get one of the only two available 60 inch models on Amazon very quickly. These would be the

60-inch television Sharp LC-60U17652E (153 cm) and the

60-inch television LG 60UK6200 (152 cm).

The 60-inch television LG came onto the market in mid-2018 and the 60-inch television Sharp in late 2018 / early 2019.

The good thing is that the completely overpriced introductory price has already fallen significantly, and both models are available for less than 800 euros.

Of course, as with all current TVs, it is a 60-inch smart TV in 4k Ultra HD. Both also have triple tuners.

If it can also be 65 inches (i.e., 164 cm or about 10 cm more), we recommend the YouTube channel 4K films. The filmmaker regularly visits trade fairs, roadshows, and events of well-known television manufacturers and documents the latest models, which we have linked to.

New launches from 2020

The Samsung OLED TV offers an Ultra Viewing Angle, with which the picture does not distort or flicker even from an oblique view. In addition to the great colors, black tones, and contrasts, the housing is also attractively designed – a recess offers the right space for a soundbar as a supplement.

According to the television expert, the entry-level model from Panasonic, 65-inch TV Panasonic GXW804 LCD-TV already has so many features that it is not a beginner’s model, but a television from the “medium performance range.” The 4k TV already has local dimming, HXC processor, 4-way tuner and Dolby Vision. If you also want an OLED display, the 65 inch Panasonic GZW954 OLED television is recommended. Finally, we want to link the Sony flagship 2019 among the new launches: the 65-inch TV Sony XG95 with full-array LED backlight and X-Wide-Angle.

How does a 60 inch TV work?

A 60-inch television is a flat screen, which is mostly based on LCD technology. It consists of pixels in the monitor, with each pixel consisting of three LCD cells or sub-pixels. These have colors blue, green, and red. An already small screen of about 15 inches has about 800,000 pixels and 2.4 million LCD cells.

The LCD cell as a liquid crystal cell is comparable to polaroid glasses. If both glasses are held one above the other and rotated relative to one another, the image becomes blurred because polaroid glass is only suitable for light waves that are arranged in a certain oscillation plane. The LCD cell is also based on the same principle. It consists of two polaroid glasses twisted against each other that no longer let light through at an angle of 90 degrees. In between is a layer of liquid crystals intended to restore the natural vibration level of light.

The layer is just so thick that light can pass through it and be turned back at a 90-degree angle to reach the second polaroid glass, which can then be seen by the viewer. The thin layer of liquid crystals lies on the grid and is illuminated from behind. If the voltage is changed, the arrangement of the crystal molecules also changes. The grid can be switched continuously and transparently, which makes it possible to mix all possible colors.

Each pixel contains three color dots, which are also called color cells. Around this is a color filter, each with a variant of green, blue or red color, which results in the pixel. Depending on which color cell receives more tension, the coloring is also visible to the viewer. The red, green, and blue light sources are mixed and controlled by continuous transparency as a light valve.

One of the important features for function and quality is the speed of reaction. This represents the time that a pixel needs to change from black to white. This will completely go through transparency once. The representation works the better, the shorter this lead time. This applies particularly to rapidly changing and moving images.

60-inch televisions are also available with plasma technology. Here, different colors are built upon the monitor by cells that consist of different noble gases. By adding electricity, the noble gases are ionized and visible through different phosphors. Here, too, a blue, red, and green cell each forms a pixel and generate any color by mixing all three basic colors.

Plasma televisions are somewhat expensive than LCD models because the contrast ratio is slightly better; black areas are displayed better, which also makes the colors clearer. LCD televisions, in turn, offer better illumination of the lighter areas for a clear image and also have a lower energy consumption.

The 60-inch television can be purchased in different categories. It is available as a Full HD model, as a 4K model or as a 3D television. Completely new functions and options are available, including the use of digital streaming services and integration into the home WLAN.

Most models in this format are compatible with the Internet. It makes a difference if the large format display is still clear and sharp, even that of normal YouTube videos.

The function of a 60-inch television is that of a flat-screen, which has existed since around 2000 and a few years later replaced the tube television, which is larger and clunkier. HD-ready is required for a flat-screen of this format, corresponding to a structure of at least 720 image lines.

The established standard for high-resolution models is HDTV, whereby the technology used for a flat-screen is differentiated once again. There are plasma screens, LCD TVs, LED TVs, OLED TVs, and SED TVs.

Flat screens have a somewhat smaller resonance room for the sound, but are very flat in design and construction and can be integrated into a room much better. A sound system then enhances the sound.

A flat-screen is a typical monitor with a shallow depth. The narrow sides of the models allow space-saving construction. Such models also have lower power consumption. Important characteristics of the flat screen are the resolution, the response time, the diagonal, the point density, and the viewing angle.

Through a digital control, e.g., B. via HDMI or DVI, a lossless image is possible, which is transmitted clearly and sharply. The image reproduction is also sharper with digital control. A permanently constant image is less affected than is the case with models with tube technology.

Advantages & application areas of a 60 inch TV

A 60-inch television is advantageous in larger rooms, because it still takes up little space in the flat design and construction, but provides an excellent picture with a correspondingly good resolution, which makes a television and home cinema experience significantly more demanding. There are models with a curved or straight screen, with or without a backlight and with Full HD or Ultra HD.

The resolution is particularly practical with this format so that the image is very clear, high-contrast, sharp, and natural in color. Also, 60-inch televisions are ideally suited for transmitting games, streaming services, videos, and Blu-ray discs, even in the appropriate device for the popular 3D effect. This is done with shutter and polarizing glasses.

A distinction is also made in models with a curved or flat design. Thanks to its construction and technology, the rounded version allows a somewhat more plastic and, above all, spatial representation. Also, the colors are more natural, and the contrasts are better. The curved shape offers better reflection, but also requires that the viewer sits approximately in the middle of the television so that the image width can be fully captured and the effect can be used. Curved technology is currently only available for LED and OLED televisions.

What types of 60 inch TVs are there?

The choice with a 60-inch television can be made on the one hand in terms of resolution, with Full HD and Ultra HD available, and in the type of technology. The resolution is crucial for the good image quality since the format is a bit larger. Ultra-HD devices are somewhat more expensive than Full-HD models. However, excellent 60-inch televisions are also available in the cheaper range since Full-HD is sufficient to optimize the image display. The whole thing is also available with 3D optics, although these models cost a little more.

The rough division is made into LCD and plasma models. Plasma is slightly more expensive, offers excellent black levels and better illumination of the dark areas. LCD, in turn, optimizes the bright areas and is completely sufficient for such a model.

In the case of an LCD television, liquid crystals ensure the controlled brightness and mixing of the primary colors, which means that the lighting is also crucial. A model without backlighting could not reproduce the image and would only show shadows.

A plasma TV, in turn, does not require any backlighting, is equipped with three separate chambers, which are filled with inert gas and which offers three basic colors in red, blue, and green. A transistor ignites the noble gas at the chamber and ionizes it so that it is converted into plasma and generates an emitted ultra-violet radiation. Using phosphors, this is converted into light that is also visible in this way.

There are also special LED TVs. These are equipped with LED technology, which requires and generates light for the three primary colors to be able to radiate the image strongly and sharply. Therefore, the devices combine LED and LCD technology and have appropriate backlighting, which ensures better color and contrast in bright daylight.

How 60-inch televisions are tested and rated in detail:

To get a better overview of the wide range of different 60-inch televisions, test reports can be consulted, which provide information about how the models have proven themselves in use and practice and what advantages they offer over other devices. Here a comparison between different models is made as well as a single test of the respective device.

Most of the time, the criteria for a test revolve around the existing resolution in the comparison between Full HD and Ultra HD, the image quality, the performance, the energy consumption and the ease of use.

The model tested must be compatible with other devices and sources, and must also offer the correct connections. Sixty-inch televisions should be energy efficient and have the right energy efficiency class. For models with this format, this is usually in the energy class A +. The electricity consumption in the year then ranges between 150 and 180 kilowatts.

The frame rate and repetition rate, the viewing angle stability, sound quality, and the interference-free transmission are also examined and tested. The comparison is also made about the scope of delivery, easy installation, and product processing.

The models should make a visual impression, bring modern design, and have many functions that make it easier to use. Many 60 inch TVs offer Smart TV and the WLAN connection so that streaming services can also be used, e.g., B. “Netflix,” “Maxdome,” or “Video load.”

What should I look for when buying a 60 inch TV?

The purchase of a new television set of this size is particularly worthwhile since the units have the latest technology and versatile functions and are now becoming increasingly affordable due to the high demand. There are leading manufacturers of 60-inch televisions that have proven themselves in the good quality of their brand, whereby the difference in quality is also paid for.

Since a 60 inch TV is not cheap but can be easily integrated into an existing home theater system, there are a few points to consider when making a purchase. This saves the exchange and avoids unnecessary costs. In general, it is worth looking at test reports and comparisons, since the devices always have their advantages and disadvantages.

Suitable size and design

Sixty inches are very large in the diagonal and also determine the weight and size of the entire model. Such televisions are ideally suited for larger living rooms if there are at least 3 to 4 meters of space available for viewing so that the eyes are not strained, and the entire image area can be seen.

At first glance, the models look alike in terms of design and appearance, since the diagonal is the essential aspect for making the selection. Nevertheless, attention can also be paid to the border, since this also determines the television viewing area. The diagonal is calculated from edge to edge.

If the edge of the model is wider, the visible area is minimally reduced. For this purpose, the device can be selected according to how it is set up or hung up. 60 inch televisions are very nice. They have a stable base that takes up little space. It should not protrude too much in width so that the space-saving is not affected by the flat format.

Technology and equipment

Technology also plays a role in the purchase of a 60-inch television, although there are more or fewer functions. This includes models with 3D technology or Smart TV. The latter allows a wide range of uses for the television, especially in the digital area. In addition to streaming services and online movie rental, the function can also communicate, e.g., B. “Skype” or “Viber” can be used. With Smart TV, many applications can be downloaded directly from the Internet. The TV can also be controlled via the smartphone.

HDR is also recommended for a wide range of image dynamics. HDR offers better colors, brighter highlights, and deep contrasts. More and more programs and films are being produced in this format, so that compatibility is worthwhile, especially about future innovations. This also applies to stream services that are HDR-compatible.

Most models have the usual resolution in Full HD, which is sufficient at 60 inches to display the image clearly and sharply and to avoid pixelation. This takes place in 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and allows true-to-life and strong colors, fast and changing movements, and images, e.g., B. in sports scenes or action films and also provides more differentiated and fluid contrasts.

Slightly better is a 4K – TV with Ultra HD. The resolution is 3,840 x 2,160 pixels and then brings the full image quality with the highest sharpness and clarity. These models are geared towards the future, which is necessary for the field of consumer electronics, as the further development of the devices is progressing rapidly.

Even if there is not yet a lot of content to choose from for Ultra HD, the somewhat more expensive purchase is worthwhile, since the changes usually take place within 1 to 2 years until the standard is reached again.

A 60-inch television should have the most important connections so that its functions can be used in full format. This includes several HDMI connections to connect other devices, which is particularly helpful when integrated into a home theater system, a USB connection, and a CI + slot. The latter is important when using pay-TV since the choice can then be made between a CI + card or a receiver. When using the card, an additional device, including remote control and connection, is then no longer necessary.

Many models also have a digital audio output to connect a sound system and improve the sound. The sound is transmitted through light and allows very good results in sound quality . Especially in a large format, this is crucial for the cinema experience. A huge TV with bad sound doesn’t do much. The sound makes up about 70 percent of a film. This applies to music, voice reproduction, and effects noises.

Brief information on the leading six manufacturers

The company “Sony” is a leader in consumer electronics and is one of the third most significant companies in Japan. It is based in Tokyo and was founded in 1946, with the company headquarters often changing within Tokyo.

The first product was an electric rice cooker, but it did not work correctly in the invention and was more of a prototype, similar to the robots developed by “Sony,” which are intended for the home and garden. The core of the product range is specialized in consumer electronics. Everything is included that modern household needs from the transistor radio to stereo system, flat screen, and blue-ray player. For the most part, “Sony” develops the products itself and is, therefore, also able to present innovations. These include, e.g., the first reflex camera without a folding mirror system. This makes the digital camera much more compact and easier to use.

“Philips” is an essential company in the multimedia and audio sector, offers many products a little cheaper than the competition. The brand stands for solid, functional, and practical, modern devices. The company is also a provider of health technology.

The company headquarters in Amsterdam. “Phillips” was founded in Eindhoven in 1891. Radio tubes were initially developed and marketed, but soon other products were added. “Philipps” introduced, among other things, the first car turntable, which of course, is now out of date again.

“Panasonic” is known as a company and brand. The exchange-oriented electronics company comes from Japan and has its headquarters in Kadoma. The products are sold worldwide, with consumer electronics and audio articles, in particular, being sold in great numbers. The company was founded in Osaka in 1918. Today there is a wide variety of televisions, flat screens, household and electrical appliances in the range.

The company “Telefunken” invented the first mobile TV camera that made sporting transmission possible at the “Summer Olympics” in Berlin in 1936. Accordingly, it is a traditional company for communications and radio technology that can boast a long history. “Telefkunken” is known today as a subsidiary of “AEG,” at that time, It built various receivers and transmitters for broadcasting and wired transmission technology. After the company was founded in 1903, the company formed the binding core for companies such as “Siemens” and “AEG” to register various patents. “Telefunken” became a leader in radio and radar technology development, and soon also marketed transmitters, electrical and wireless receivers.

Today, “Telefunken” is a popular brand for high-quality devices that meet the latest standards through technical innovations in the fields of consumer electronics and industrial production. An efficient and functional design is combined with various user-friendly applications. The devices are versatile in the household. In addition to televisions, there are also electronic items such as car radios, smartphones, clock radios, and chargers.

“Samsung” comes from South Korea, founded in Seoul in 1938, and is one of the world’s largest for electrical appliances and consumer electronics. In Korean, the brand means “3 stars” in translation and is intended to represent a positive harmony. There is a special area called “Samsung Electronics,” which stands for the direct marketing of smartphones, tablets, SSD and television sets, flat screens, and home theater systems.

“LG Electronics” was founded in 1958 and, in addition to smartphones and PCs, offers many audio, electrical, and multimedia devices that are state of the art in technology and offer a modern design. Projectors, home theater, and sound systems, flat screens, drives, and cell phones are marketed as a supplement to other kitchen and household appliances, including washing machines, dishwashers, ovens, vacuum cleaners, and refrigerators.

Internet vs. Specialist trade: where is the best place to buy my 60-inch television?

Nowadays, the question of where to buy the product is becoming less and less common. Of course, the specialist trade with extensive customer advice is available for purchase and allows direct inspection of the devices and technology.

Television can be switched on, tested in the sound and picture quality, and optically selected in size and design. The selection of products is large but mostly limited to the brands that the respective retailers sell directly. The TV must be to be in stock and somewhat cumbersome transported even in size.

An alternative is to buy online and order directly on the Internet. This is often shown in a more favorable form in the test and comparison since the competition between the providers is high, and discounts and price reductions are easier online. There are also special offer weeks or the “Black Friday,” which has now been introduced, a day that allows very large price differences in retail and on the Internet compared to the actual offer and grants great discounts accordingly.

Buying on the Internet is more convenient and saves time and petrol costs, even if the model cannot be viewed directly. With a 60 inch television, touching and trying out is less important than looking at the technical data.

Most manufacturers list these extensively so that the advantages of the device are quickly visible. An exchange or refund is also possible at any time. There are also many customer reviews available that can be used to filter out whether the model is suitable for your use.

Interesting facts & advice

The history of the television

After the radio had become the most important source of reception in many households and enriched the newspaper industry as a source of supply, the device with sound and image soon followed. In America, television was organized almost commercially in the 1950s and remained so to this day. Public broadcasters have special tasks, including the transmission of information and product sales.

Commercial advertising is just as much of a television program as the transmission of films, series, news, or documentaries. Channels and transmitters are now also enriched with smart applications, digital television, and popular 3D technology.

It all started in 1880 as a simple idea on paper. The Frenchman ConstantinSenlecq wrote the idea of serial image transmission. Just three years later, the inventor Paul Nipkow from Germany built an electric telescope. This was able to split and reassemble images via a rotating disk into light and dark signals. In the 1930s, the “Braun tube” was invented by Manfred von Ardennen and Ferndin and Braun, a cathode ray tube with television transmitted electronically by radio waves. This created the technology to create a device with an image from the radio.

In Germany, the introduction of the television had a very specific background. The mass distribution in all households only took place after the Second World War. The history of television began as early as 1935, with the world’s first television transmission using a simpler tube device in 1930.

A year later, the fully electronic television process was demonstrated at the German Radio Exhibition, and in 1934 the first television broadcasts were implemented in image and sound. Under Hitler, television should be able to reach everyone directly, so that the Germans basically invented television and introduced it regularly. The plan was certainly not so easy to implement so that there were about 250 televisions in the households or allowed public access.

The first television broadcast in 1935 ran on the transmitter “Paul Nipkow,” with the program running live. The televisions were technically very immature and of a very small size.

The television picture was blurred, black and white, and with interference. Thereupon the development of color television began, which became more and more popular in the USA in the 1950s.

The first media event was the “Summer Olympics” in 1936, which took place in Berlin. At the same time, the well-known company “Telefunken” developed the first mobile camera for television, which was called “television cannon” and had an image resolution of 180 lines, a lens of 1.60 meters focal length and a lens diameter of 40 centimeters. England was the second country to broadcast regular television programs after Germany. Then came France and America.

The establishment of a broadcasting system was not so easy after the end of World War II. Germany prohibited all broadcasting activities after the end of the war, while the broadcasting facilities were under occupation rights.

In 1945 the Americans built decentralized systems in Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt am Main and Bremen, the Russians set up a broadcasting station directly in Berlin. The French followed in Baden-Baden, the British in Hamburg. All programs broadcast were carefully checked by the crew officers, and their content adjusted. There were practical tips and hints for everyday life, music, entertainment, and cabaret.

Today the variety of devices is shown in enormous dimensions, whereby in addition to the size and technology of the devices, the quality of the image transmission and resolution also differ. The flat-screen TV has long since replaced the flat-screen television, as the models offer a better design, clearer images, and lower energy consumption.

Numbers, data, facts about the 60-inch television

Set up and connect the 60 inch TV correctly in 5 steps

A modern and newly purchased and very large television has a variety of connections, all of which are listed and named on the device but do not allow an actual overview for a layperson. A large number of inputs and outputs does not immediately show which connection is suitable for which purpose. There are several abbreviations that not everyone knows.

Before you buy a 60 inch TV, you should carefully consider which connections are necessary. This includes a USB connection, several HDMI connections, and the connection for the WLAN.

The device can be tailored to the type of use. The cheaper models do not always offer WiFi and Smart TV. Almost all of them have an antenna connection to allow simple cable television.

Step 1:

The television set up is relatively simple. It is usually contained in a shockproof packaging and is also very extensive in size. It is good if it is already planned where the 60-inch television will be installed in the room. The devices weigh a good 20 to 30 kilograms, are heavy, but also easy to transport. This should be done with at least two people.

step 2

Most 60 inch televisions have a robust and stable base, which can be designed differently. This ensures a secure hold and requires a certain distance from the wall. Some models are intended for wall mounting. These are attached via a wall bracket, which is either included in the delivery or must be purchased separately. Once the 60-inch television has been set up, it only has to be connected to power.

step 3

The overview of the connections is then somewhat more difficult but is understandable when looking at the operating instructions. Each modern large device has several HDMI connections in addition to the antenna connection so that the TV can be connected to other devices, e.g., B. with a DVD or Blu-ray player, with a camera or a sound system. Digital applications such as the “Amazon Fire TV Stick” or “Google Chromecast” can also be connected via HDMI.

There is also a USB port, which can also be found in the rear or front area. This allows direct transfer from the USB stick to the TV, e.g., B, to transfer data, pictures, music, audio, and video files and watch them on the TV. It is also possible to save recorded programs and films and then send them to another device.

Step 4

Another connection is the Scart connection, which can be used to connect a DVD player or console that is of an older format. Modern devices, on the other hand, are all HDMI-compatible, so that the connection is not always required.

There is also a component input that can be used when the scart connection is occupied. The cables for video or audio are simply plugged in separately.

There is also a network connection to connect the TV to the Internet. Most 60-inch TVs have Smart TVs to use streaming services and application aids. There is also a connection to the PC. To be able to play the sound on other devices, which is recommended for flat screens, since these have a somewhat small resonance body, there is a sound output that allows the connection of a sound system or a stereo system. Here too, modern soundbars and systems offer transmission via HDMI. Finally, there can be a CI + slot that is intended as a slot for a CI + card if no additional receiver is to be used.

Step 5

Now the television can be switched on, and the operating menu can be called up. All fine adjustments are made here, including brightness, image format, colors, contrast, sharpness, and tone. It is also possible to set up the WLAN, download apps, or set-upstream transmission.

The image quality can be set very precisely and is optimized with just a few settings. This applies to the natural reproduction of the skin color, rich colors in natural spectacles or deep shades, and good light effects.

Sixty-inch televisions can be regulated in two basic settings and offer home and shop modes. These modes are adapted to the premises in the transmission. A dim living room in the evening requires different settings than a screening room at a seminar. The home mode is intended for home use and allows further options. The standard setting is usually rather colorful, poor in detail, and exaggerated. It is, therefore, worth switching to film, cinema or movie mode. Perfectionists also like to use a program with special test images to fine-tune color, brightness, and contrast.

Settings particularly affect the color temperature, which can be adjusted to a high, warm, or low level and contains more reds or more shades of blue. Adjusting the various gray and light levels is just as important.

A 60-inch monitor has a menu item for color saturation, which decides on a scale how bright and colorful the colors are. The color shades can be distinguished.

Some models also offer a function for changing the movement of the images. Fast and action-packed scenes should be transmitted as smoothly as possible. Image disturbances are annoying, especially when it comes to a sporting event or soccer game. The movement and speed of the images can then be optimized.

Useful accessories

With a large model such as the 60-inch television, the right accessories are an asset, particularly when it comes to the extensive equipment of a home cinema. This includes a good sound system and a suitable AV receiver.

An AV receiver makes sense when different technical devices come together at home and need to be connected. The receiver then avoids the tangle of cables in the living room and combines the existing devices.

With the right sound system, the tone and sound can be significantly improved. All 60-inch televisions have the appropriate connections and can then be better used in sound transmission functions. The simple 2.1 sound system consists of a subwoofer and two associated loudspeakers but is rather unusable for home cinema.

To enjoy the full sound effect, a 5.1 sound system should be used that offers the entire Dolby Surround with four speakers, plus a center speaker and a subwoofer. Here the sound can take place all around; noises can also be filtered out or amplified. This technique plays a role in the simultaneous transmission of voices, music, and sound effects. The television and film experience becomes much more intense and realistic. Poor sound, on the other hand, as is more common with flat screens, minimizes enjoyment. If the sound is tinny and flat, the image quality and the screen size cannot have a compensating effect either.

The further development is a 7.1 sound system. This has five boxes, with another smaller box between the two front speakers. B. improves the sound of voices. The sound flows a little better between the speakers but is only suitable for very large screens or formats.

Cleaning and maintaining a 60 inch TV

Televisions with large monitors are real dust catchers and have to be wiped and cleaned more often. This affects not only the frame, the base, and the housing, but also the monitor itself. However, this requires careful cleaning so that after wiping, unfavorable streaks or the surface are damaged.

Large home theater is anything but beautiful on a dirty surface. The image quality and coloring are severely affected by a layer of dust or stains. This takes away the actual meaning of the television, especially when it is a more expensive and high-resolution model.

It makes sense to clean with a soft duster. There are also very special cleaning wipes on the market that have been developed for monitors. It is crucial that the wiping does not cause scratches and can take place uniformly. In the case of heavy soiling, you can also help with a little alcohol.

The wiping should be done from top to bottom and very evenly so that no streaks remain. Round wiping movements, such as when cleaning a window, do not make sense and always leave residues or traces on such a sensitive surface. It is also important to switch off the TV and disconnect it from power before cleaning. The device should be completely cool, which takes about an hour if it has been in operation.

Television can be cleaned with a duster about once or twice a week. The corners and edges should not be overlooked either, although a soft brush is helpful. Dry cleaning is basically enough for a 60-inch television. If necessary, a damp microfiber cloth can also be used.

Strong detergents are not suitable. They attack the screen surface unfavorably. Lint-free wipes should also be used, which can also be moistened but do not require any chemicals.

If you wait too long before cleaning and encounter a coarser layer of dirt, you can use cleaners that have been specially designed for the TV set and are commercially available. These contain active ingredients that are harmless to the monitor. A 60 inch TV doesn’t get dirty too quickly and can then be cleaned normally and gently.

Good alternatives to a 60-inch television

Another selection, in addition to plasma, LCD and LED TVs are modern devices with OLED and QLED. Television can be bought in a normal size of 43 inches, but the technical requirements for such models are less important for the picture quality.

With large formats, OLED or QLED can deliver images with even better colors and high contrasts.

A QLED television is the technically optimized version of LCD television. Here, quantum dots as luminous nanoparticles behind the LCD panel ensure brilliant display.

OLED televisions, in turn, have millions of tiny LEDs made of organic material, with each pixel being a light-emitting diode. As a result, the response speed and the contrast of such a technology are almost perfect, only slightly lower in maximum brightness than in QLED models.

To enjoy television with HDR, which includes a particularly high image dynamic, televisions in larger formats are useful, whereby in addition to 60-inch televisions, 70-inch models are also considered. HDR enables bright highlights and stronger colors for image transmission. In general, more and more HDR-based films are being produced in the test, as are blue-rays and streaming services. HDR is worthwhile with a resolution with Ultra HD. Common televisions with a different resolution are nevertheless HDR compatible and have the standard HDR10.

Frequently Asked Questions

How wide is a 60 inch TV?

A 60-inch television has a width between 135 cm and 155 cm.

Before buying a 60-inch television, the decision must be made whether it should be an HD or a 4K television. Today both variants stand for a unique cinema experience in your own four walls.

The advantages and disadvantages of 60-inch televisions?

Due to the size of a 60-inch television, it should not be placed in every room. Besides, 60 inch TV is quite expensive. But the selection is very large and also rather unknown brands offer 60-inch televisions.

Which are the most popular manufacturers for 60 inch TVs?

More and more manufacturers have made a good name for themselves in the field of 60-inch televisions in recent years. The best known and most popular brands include Telefunken, Samsung, and LG.

What should you know before buying?

Some purchase criteria should be considered before buying the 60 inch TV. The size of the room plays a crucial role. All other purchase criteria can be found in the guide.

What sources are our grades based on?

The grades for the ratings are combined from various factors. The main factor is trade journals, but customer reviews also play a very important role.

How big is a 60-inch television?

Sixty inches is exactly 152.4 centimeters. The dimensions do not concern the width and length of the television, but the screen diagonal. This is measured from the top left to the bottom-right edge of the model. Minimal deviations can occur from manufacturer to manufacturer.

However, the 60-inch format is somewhat uniform and is partly related to the surface of the model. Some offer a borderless image area, which then turns out to be larger than with flat screens with a thicker edge.

Which resolution makes sense with the 60-inch format?

With a format of 40 inches, the resolution is less important and does not necessarily have to be selected at the highest level. With a size of 60 inches, however, it looks a little different. The resolution should be higher here, with most models being sold in Full HD and Ultra HD.

Full HD offers a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, Ultra HD or a 4K television has a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels.

The next higher resolution will be the 8K UHD form with a super hi-vision of 7,680 x 4,320 pixels. A normal HD-ready resolution is no longer sufficient with the 60-inch format. This would be 1,366 x 768 pixels and is not useful for 60 inches.

What needs to be considered with the basic equipment?

Most 60 inch televisions are internet-compatible and can be fed into the home WLAN. This makes it possible to use streaming services that can be displayed particularly clearly and without interference in such a format and the associated resolution. It is important that the 60 inch TV with Ultra HD supports the HEVC Codex in order to compress 4K films better.

This saves bandwidth and allows high image reproduction. The HEVC encoding is digital terrestrial television for the transmission signals over DVB-T2 HD necessary. The broadcasters use the coding because the Full HD resolution has to be compressed more in the antenna signal.

How many HDMI inputs should there be?

Sixty-inch televisions with at least 3, better still 4 HDMI inputs are very good. Even if there is only one connection initially, more devices can quickly be added over time, be it a Blu-ray player, a digital camera or a game console. If the TV does not have enough HDMI inputs, it must always be vigorously changed.

HDMI inputs should be designed for version 1.4 or 2.0 and for HDCP 2.2, which is necessary for playing current films via Blue-ray.

What can modern flat screens do?

Flat screens are much more efficient and functional than tube TVs. The various technologies offer advantages in terms of image quality, energy-saving, and device size, which also allows very large formats to be saved. Flat screens are also internet-compatible. They can make digital use of streaming services possible without loss of picture quality, have less line flicker, and have a better picture transfer rate. The frame rate is also significantly higher.

In the case of LCD models, the disturbing ambient light can be measured by a sensor on the screen frame, and the image can be enhanced and adjusted in terms of brightness, contrast, and color. The unfavorable reflection is bridged by matt gloss models.

There is also a trend towards Cuvedmodels, which are curved flat screens that not only look very impressive but also allow a display curvature that enables side-viewing to be optimized. The curvature serves to draw the viewer more into what is happening on the screen, similar to what the 3D effect offers, which is also available for 60-inch models. Both variants are only possible with larger models.

Where is a 60 inch TV used?

Due to their good format, 60-inch televisions are well-suited for integration into a sound system and home theater. Gamers now also prefer this flat screen size to experience the computer game on a slightly different level than the normal PC screen offers. Sixty-inch televisions can enable the home cinema experience with Ultra HD or 3D.

What is the optimal distance for a 60-inch television?

The size of the TV is determined by the available space that is available. Even if the models are flat, they take up space in terms of their format and housing, which must be considered when purchasing them. A model that can be optimally constructed for the viewing angle is also important.

To have an overview of the entire display, a distance is necessary that is easy on the eyes and shows the picture in all details. Also, the size of the TV should not dominate the room aesthetically. It has to be considered that a switched off-model forms a black area, which appears rather uncomfortable in smaller rooms. The correct placement is, therefore, also decisive for the optics.

The distance is measured using the formula: screen diagonal x 2.5 = the recommended seat distance from the model. This represents the value that results from the binocular field of view of a person and is measured in the normal view. The image can then be ergonomically captured from the optimal distance with about five eye movements. With a 60 inch television, the optimal distance would then be 3.80 meters.

What is a triple tuner?

A triple tuner replaces the conventional receiver and is installed as standard in modern television sets and flat screens. It is a receiver that can receive and transmit all signals in three ways.

This is possible via cable, antenna, or satellite and allows the use of significantly more channels, programs, and transmitters. The triple tuner can take full advantage of the entire signal width and transmit an interference-free image.

It also allows programs to be recorded while another is being viewed. The latest version is the DVB-T2 tuner, which even enables the transmission of channels in HD. 4K TVs often also have a Quattro tuner for extensive applications and interference-free reception.

What does Smart TV mean?

Smart TV is a certain feature that allows the use of additional services when there is an active connection to the Internet. Below this, it is possible to surf the Internet like with a PC with preinstalled browsers.

Various apps can be installed, as they are also known from smartphones, and can be controlled entirely via the television. It is also possible to control the TV using mobile devices. For this purpose, films can be downloaded, borrowed, or bought. Connections such as USB, HDMI, CI +, and WLAN are important, as available on a 60-inch television.

What inch sizes of flat screens are there in the trade?

Since the flat screen is a combination of monitor and television, the display size is usually found in fixed sizes and with a typical resolution in Full HD or Ultra HD.

It starts with a small model of 32 inches. The image size is then 71 x 40 centimeters. The diagonal is 81 centimeters, goes to 40, 43, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, and 75 inches. Seventy-five inches would then be a screen diagonal of 1.92 meters, a truly powerful device in comparison.

Such formats are often set up as an exhibit at trade fairs and in retail and are only suitable for rooms with a lot of space.
