If you haven’t purchased a new television in a few years, you may be startled to hear that a 55-inch or even smaller screen is now deemed medium-size or even smaller.
Almost every excellent TV series has a 55-inch size at the high end of the market, and it’s generally the smallest in the line. Companies have started offering larger displays for smaller prices — we’re talking $400 for a perfectly good budget 55-inch TV — and sales have brought the prices even lower.
Many of these TVs offer full-array local dimming, OLED panels, 120Hz refresh rates, 4K resolution, HDR, an abundance of HDMI ports, and even high-end gaming features to complement a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.
Oh, and the majority of these selections for the best 55-inch TV are smart, so you can watch all of your favorite streaming channels and TV programs without having to use a second device.

LG Electronics 55UH7700 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV
The TCL 6-Series 55-inch TV (also available in 65- and 75-inch versions) is one of the year’s most value-packed TVs, due to a strong feature set and picture quality that punches well beyond its weight. Overall, the 6-Series outperforms nearly every TV in its price range, making it an excellent choice for those trying to get the most bang for their buck.
Thanks to the TV’s quantum dots, the TCL 6-Series offers a brilliant, vibrant 4K picture during both SDR and HDR programming. While receiving an HDR signal in our testing, we regularly clocked the 6-Series at roughly 800-900 nits of brightness. This makes the 6-Series an excellent choice for people who have a lot of ambient light in their living spaces. Quantum dots also provide vibrant, well-saturated colors, which is very useful for HDR video.
Gamers will like the 6-Series’ native 120 Hz refresh rate (up to 1440p at 120 Hz) and the addition of THX Certified Game Mode, which incorporates VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) to adjust to the varying frame rates of gaming content.
The TCL 6-Series is a Roku TV, so it comes with our favorite streaming platform right out of the box. Its software is simple to use and provides access to a large number of apps.
The TCL 6-Series isn’t nearly as good as the top TVs on our list, but given its price, its performance and features are very noteworthy. In short, it’s currently one of the greatest prices in the industry.
- Panel: The quality of LG IPS panels is more than known in the market, giving a high image quality that is also present in this model.
- Smart TV: Version 3.5 of the Web OS system gives more speed and performance to the Smart TV features of the device, including more security when it comes to moving on the network.
- Sound: The sound system has a 20-watt output with Ultra Surround 2.0 system.
- Connectivity: The device has 2 USB ports, one recorder, and 3 HDMI ports.
- HDR System: The HDR set adds extra quality to those broadcasts and programs that do not reach the quality of the 4K format.
- Instruction manual: It is a problem already standard in many models: the instruction manual included does not have a Spanish version.
Samsung UN55TU8000 55" 8 Series Ultra TV
The LG C1 (available in 48-, 55-, 65-, and 77-inch sizes) is a gorgeous OLED TV with a number of forward-thinking features that will help it retain its value for many years. It’s simple to see why we think it’s the greatest 55-inch TV on the market right now.
The LG C1 is no exception to the rule that OLED TVs have outstanding contrast. It has a continuous peak brightness of roughly 700 to 800 nits in HDR, making it one of the brightest OLED TVs we’ve ever seen, with perfect black levels and superb highlights. The C1 is also a top performer in terms of color, with 100 percent SDR color saturation (Rec.709) and 97 percent HDR color saturation (DCI-P3). That means you can expect vivid, true-to-life color no matter what you’re watching. The C1 brings out the finest in TVs and movies, from cable to Blu-ray.
The LG C1 has four HDMI 2.1 ports, all of which support 4K resolution at 120 frames per second, making it an excellent choice for gamers who own (or plan to acquire) an Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5. The LG C1 is chock-full of gaming-friendly features like Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and FreeSync/G-Sync support, as well as a suite of picture upgrades found in the TV’s Game Optimizer menu.
The C1 also comes with LG’s webOS smart platform pre-installed, and while it’s not our favorite smart software out there right now, most people will find it adequate for their purposes; it’s fast, easy to use, and offers a wide range of apps via LG’s Content Store.
Despite the fact that the LG G1 and Sony A90J are better-performing TVs by the tiniest of margins, we believe that the tiny improvement in picture quality isn’t worth the extra cost for most people.
The LG C1 is the greatest TV you can buy right now, thanks to its incredible performance, extensive feature set, and stylish appearance. True A/V enthusiasts may be enticed by the LG G1 and Sony A90J’s slightly better picture quality, but if you’re looking for the best value for your money, the C1 provides a virtually equal experience for a far lower price.
- Resolution: It has been equipped with a high screen resolution, being able to play content in 4K.
- Screen: It has a large 55-inch display and stylized design that provides adequate visibility from any angle.
- Inputs: For greater versatility in use, it has three HDMI inputs and two USB ports.
- Features: It is considered a Smart TV because it has built-in WiFi, as well as several pre-established applications.
- Memory: The TV only has 1 GB of internal memory, which is low if you want to add several additional applications to the default ones.
Sony X750H 65-inch 4K Ultra HD LED TV
The Hisense U6G may lack some of the bells and whistles seen on more pricier models, but it still provides superb image quality for a TV in this price range.
Support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and other features are among them. While the TV’s panels aren’t perfectly even, you won’t notice any blotchiness or blooming under usual viewing.
The TV comes preloaded with Google’s Android TV, which is becoming increasingly responsive as televisions become more powerful. It’s not horrible here, and while you might have to wait a second or two now and then, you’ll be able to reach where you need to go in a timely manner for the most part.
You won’t find a better deal in this price range, especially if you prefer Android TV or want to stream from an external device. The majority of competitors either don’t offer local dimming, don’t get as bright, or have poorer software.
- Android Smart TV: The Android-based Smart TV feature adds extra connectivity and variety to the device.
- X-Reality Pro: This brand’s system adds extra quality to all the broadcasts you see on the screen.
- Quality details: As with this manufacturer, the TV has class details such as the beautiful aluminum finishes of the frame or the shape of its legs.
- Sound: The sound quality is improved, although nothing that cannot be solved with an additional bar or Home Cinema if you need it.
- Menus: The product configuration menus are improvable, in terms of navigation and control of the different options.
TCL 55S425 55 inch 4K Smart LED Roku TV
The Philips OLED 805 is a winning combination of superb picture clarity, powerful processing, and attractive build quality – but the Ambilight feature is the true show-stealer here.
Ambilight casts a rainbow of colors around the edges of the screen, and this 805 model can do so from three sides – not quite as many as the top OLED+935’s four-sided Ambilight, but still enough to produce an immersive light show.
The 805 OLED, on the other hand, isn’t just for show: with to Philips’ hefty P5 Picture processor, it can offer OLED images actual force, with improved contrast and beautiful colors, even when upscaling from HD/SDR. Philips also improves on last year’s 804 model by including support for both Dolby Vision and HDR10+, eliminating the need to choose between dynamic HDR formats.
However, there is no Apple TV app support, and the Android smart TV platform can be cumbersome at times. The lack of Freeview Play, as well as the unavailability of catch-up television for ITV and the BBC, can be aggravating for UK viewers. Overall, it’s a small fee to pay for the value provided.
- 4K Resolution: The 4K resolution offers a high quality that is combined with the Micro Dimming system or its high dynamic range with which to give each image the most appropriate contrast.
- Android System: In front of proprietary Smart TV systems, this model has an Android TV system with high compatibility and efficiency.
- DTS Premium Sound: The DTS Premium sound adds extra quality to the audio to make it stand out as much as when it was designed.
- On: The ignition process is somewhat slower than usual, although not so much as to be desperate.
- Viewing angle: Some comment indicates that the viewing angles of the panel are not particularly wide, which means having to focus to see everything in conditions.
SAMSUNG 43-Inch Class Crystal Smart TV
Take a peek at the absolutely stunning TU8000 Series if your living room – and budget – can’t handle a 65-inch TV. You’ll enjoy a reduced input lag (just 9.7ms) and motion management technologies to keep the action looking seamless. What more could you want?
You won’t get all of the gaming features included in some of the other sets on this list, such as HDMI 2.1, VRR (variable refresh rate), or a 120Hz panel, but for the average gamer, this is a set that nails the essentials.
You should be aware of the limited viewing angles: material appears best when viewed straight on, with color draining from the sides, so it might not be the greatest option for four-player Switch gaming sessions. Overall, however, this is a good option.
If you’re in the US, you might still be able to buy the somewhat earlier RU8000 – which is becoming increasingly difficult to come by these days – which offers up to 120Hz refresh rate (for 50-inch and larger sizes) as well as VRR and is worth picking up on the cheap.
- Image: Its 55-inch screen is capable of offering models in 4K resolution, based on HDR10 +.
- Ambilight: Ambilight technology makes the wall of your home part of the scene.
- Smart TV: Smart TV functionality makes it easy to access your favorite content, whether local or over the Internet.
- Base: The base of the TV is somewhat spectacular, although its elegant design helps it go unnoticed.
- Finish: The finish is silver and not black, as usual in these products.
Sony A80J 65 Inch TV
The Panasonic HZ1500’s OLED panel and HCX Pro Intelligent processor work in tandem to provide deep and vast blacks that stop just short of crushing the screen’s dark parts. Panasonic’s universal HDR compatibility, which includes both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision (as well as HLG and HLG Photo Mode) rather than picking sides, results in truly brilliant HDR photos.
The HZ1500 is held down by a few noteworthy omissions, the most notable of which being the loss of the Disney Plus streaming service, as well as the lack of HDMI 2.1 connections.
This, paired with the lack of noticeable input lag, means this isn’t a gamer’s dream – but cinephiles are the ones Panasonic is aiming for. You won’t be dissatisfied with the picture, and the 80W Dolby Atmos speakers won’t let you down with the sound, even if it doesn’t quite match the HZ2000’s 140W output.
Despite Panasonic’s cozy relationship with Hollywood colorists, this package will not be available in the United States, although it is available today in the UK, Europe, Australia, and Canada. The 55-inch model starts at £2,499 and goes up to £3,499 for the 65-inch.
Sony A90J 65 Inch BRAVIA XR OLED 4K Ultra HD Smart Google TV
When it comes to sound quality, the Sony A90J is a few steps ahead. Using the entire screen as a speaker is still new and effective, and combining it with two traditional bass drivers means the A90J sounds richer, more direct, and just plain better than any other option without an off-board sound system.
Picture quality is about as fantastic as it gets from any 4K screen right now, regardless of source. Motion control, contrast, edge definition, detail levels, you name it – they’re all there. It’s also terrific at upscaling for those times when you’re forced to watch video that’s not in 4K.
Add in a smart new Google TV interface, the usual Sony build and finish, feet that move to accommodate a soundbar, an exclusive movie streaming service, and an authentically well-designed remote control, and the A90J looks like the complete package – ignoring the inexplicable lack of UK TV catch-up services. Complete bundles, on the other hand, are rarely inexpensive.
SAMSUNG 65-inch Class
The results speak for themselves, with stunning SDR and HDR images that benefit from deeper blacks and brighter highlights, all without blooming or shadow detail loss. The addition of quantum dot technology produces vivid and nuanced colors, which are also exceptionally accurate thanks to the Filmmaker Mode.
Unlike last year, Samsung is not cutting corners on its 4K lineup in order to boost sales of its 8K models. So the QN95A comes with a long list of features, the most notable of which is a well-designed and comprehensive smart platform that incorporates all of the major streaming apps. There are also a slew of cutting-edge gaming features that will appeal to users of next-generation consoles.
The QN95A not only looks great, but it also sounds great owing to Object Tracking Sound Plus (OTS+), which crams a powerful 4.2.2-channel sound system inside the TV’s ultra-slim frame. With a basic but elegant style, sturdy metal stand, and practically bezel-less screen, this is another achievement of Samsung industrial design.
Keep in mind that you’ll have to make do with HDR10+ instead than the more widely used Dolby Vision HDR standard.
TCL 55-inch 6-Series 4K UHD Dolby Vision HDR QLED Roku Smart TV
While we could easily fill this list with TVs that cost thousands of dollars, we prefer to evaluate screens based on their value for money, and few TVs perform better than the TCL 6-Series QLED (55R625), one of the best TCL TVs available.
The 6-Series is more vibrant than ever before thanks to Quantum Dots, and the new AIPQ engine makes upscaled video look even better than last year. It may not be able to provide the same peak brightness as Samsung and Vizio’s QLED TVs, but it costs less than half as much.
We can’t say enough good things about it.
LG OLED48CXPUB Alexa Built-In CX 48" 4K Smart OLED TV
The new LG C1 Series is your best bet if you’re attracted by the deep blacks and limitless contrast of an OLED TV.
Although this evolutionary update to the beloved LG CX does not reinvent the wheel, it does maintain the LG CX’s heritage of high-performing picture in a good all-around package.
The a9 Gen 4 chipset is one of the new features, since it includes AI processing to discern between objects and their backgrounds, which is at the heart of many of today’s TV improvements. This outstanding OLED TV features four dedicated HDMI 2.1 connections (perfect for next-generation gaming) and a new Game Optimiser menu that allows you to modify brightness, contrast, and VRR on the fly.
The LG C1 isn’t perfect, and we did run into some difficulties with how the new a9 Gen 4 CPU upscales faces and how reflective the all-glass screen is during daylight hours, but they’re minor. (Those who can afford a 55-inch 4K TV can upgrade to the LG G1 OLED, which has even more brightness.)
It’s possibly because there isn’t much new here compared to last year’s (albeit superb) LG CX OLED that it was edged out by the Samsung panel above. Aside from the new a9 Gen 4 AI processor with minor improvements to motion control and upscaling algorithms, the audio and video specifications are virtually the same. It’s difficult to fault an incredible TV for sticking to its guns, but the QN95A’s addition of Mini LED backlighting, along with considerably greater audio, elevates it to a bolder and more groundbreaking arrival for 2021.
Buy 4K TV – 55 inches or 65 inches?
Have you also decided to breathe fresh air into your living room and swap the new television for another variant? Then you are following a current trend because in recent years it has become increasingly clear that Germans have a preference for modern and good technology for everyday use in their own everyday life and within their own four walls. Of course, not only smartphones and notebooks count here, but also the TV or television.
And if you are looking for the new TV looked around then evermore accurate and the numerous offers an extensive comparison has undergone, perhaps even one or two 4K TV test have read, then you will with certainty again and again to this very Technology encountered. Different models and different sizes are available here on the market, although you may have noticed another special feature with a little attention. Because no matter from which manufacturer and no matter in which price range, the TVs with a diagonal of 55 and 65 inches dominate the picture with great clarity and can be found in a very wide variety for you as a customer.
Here it does not matter whether you are online in one of the famous shops look or on-site in the electric business inquiries and advised let the 55 and 65-inch models dominate the selection more than clear. But which variant should you choose as a user and buyer, how do you ultimately make the better choice?
Ultimately, of course, there is always a question of various points and aspects when buying and deciding whether a 65 or 55 inch TV is the right choice. Among other things, a personal taste is always crucial, because different demands and needs are used here and play a very important role. However, there are still some points of reference with which you can decide and with which you will be given practical help.
Before you decide on a variant and for a corresponding TV, whether with a size of 55 or even 65 inches, you should take a very close look at your own living room or even the room in which the new 4k TV alternatively should be used and where it will ultimately be set up. Because at this point you should keep in mind that between 55 inches and 65 inches there is actually a clearly visible and a clearly noticeable difference.
This point is particularly useful when the space in which you want to use the new 4k television is not particularly large . Because here the use of the larger model than the TV with a diagonal of 65 inches is not a good idea. The TV may be a very large and good picture on the one hand, but on the other hand you also have the problem here that this TV in the room may be significantly too large and also seems significantly too large here.
You then have to put up with the fact that the television becomes the central element in the room and this can, unfortunately, destroy the complete overall impression of the room. A much better choice is of course the smaller television with a size of only 55 inches, because this is actually a very good choice for almost all rooms of any size and fits well into the overall picture.
It looks similar, of course, if you already have furniture in your own living room, for example, the popular wall unit or a TV board. Because before you buy, you should take a very close look and measure exactly how it looks here with the space for the new TV.
Because the older furniture, in particular, is not necessarily designed for use with such a large TV and you as a user may even have to buy new furniture before you can safely set up the TV and then put it into operation . If you have the available space, of course, this problem does not threaten you on and in the furniture before you buy the new TV.
And the price you are willing to invest in the new television also plays a very important role in the choice and decision between 55 inches and 65 inches. Because even if you might not have suspected it at first glance, the jump from 55 to 65 is bigger than most people would think at first glance. As a rule, you can expect a surcharge of at least one hundred to two hundred euros if you want to opt for the larger version from the manufacturers’ offer. If the budget for the purchase of the new TV is already limited, then you should definitely choose the smaller version.
However, the built-in technology has no major influence on the correct and correct decision . Because, of course, on the one hand, the resolution is completely identical for all models and variants, on the other hand, it hardly looks any different with the features and functionality of the different variants. Because in the end, it does not depend on the size and the diagonal whether the model is really a good choice and whether the technology can convince in everyday life .
To make this clear to you, the 4k TV test may be a good example. Because in the 4k television test you will find both well-equipped models and televisions with a diagonal of 55 inches as well as excellent televisions with a very good rating in the 4k television test with a size of 65 inches.
You are welcome to neglect this point when looking for the right model and instead concentrate on the other aspects. Once you have taken a close look at them and answered the important questions about this topic, you can certainly make an early decision for the right TV.
In the end, it doesn’t really matter whether you opt for a TV with a size of 55 or 65 inches, because with both variants you benefit from modern technology, which you are sure to enjoy and enjoy in the coming months and years may enjoy it.
And if you are still not quite sure which variant and which television you should choose to use in your own four walls, this is not a problem either. In such a case, it is best to get personal advice directly on-site in a store of your choice.
Recognize the best 4K TV
The 4k TVs have been able to set a very clear trend in motion over the past months and years and are very popular. But as is the case on the free market, the great demand for the corresponding models and televisions has a very clear consequence, which every user can determine for themselves. Because of course, with increasing demand, the supply of manufacturers in this area has been growing rapidly and continuously for many months and years.
A few years ago, the models were an absolute rarity, but things look very different today. So that you can distinguish the good from the less good models on the market, you should always and in any case extensively inform yourself before a planned purchase. In the times of the Internet, this is of course easier than ever before and, if desired, can be done in a very short time. In this case, it is, unfortunately, necessary for you to search for the required information and facts yourself.
For this, we personally recommend a short search via the well-known search engines, because here you usually only need a few seconds to find the desired model with all the facts and information. Simply enter the desired name in the search engine and confirm the search. As a rule, you will mostly find offers and results from online shops, but these can actually be very practical and more or less of a help, especially when looking for a new 4k television.
